I'm still working another couple of years for Jefferson County Social services as a social case worker for client families on welfare. In our program, they can go to school for training, look for work, apply for SSI for disabilities, etc. I have half a caseload and spend the rest of my time training new workers, monitoring orientations, answering questions and troubleshooting the worst computer program the world has ever seen. This, by the way, is my 4th career.
My daughter, Laura, who is now 36, continues to live in Eugene, OR where she got her Masters. She makes training films for people who work with the developmentally disabled and borderline intelligence population. She has been living with her boyfriend for about 8 years and he has a 12 year old daughter who lives with them more than halftime.
My two sisters still live in NYC where they have been for about 50 years, one on the Upper Westside and the other in Greenwich Village. I live in a cohousing community in Denver. Check out our website: www.hearthstonecohousing.com
We are a cross between a townhome complex and a commune, but I wouldn't describe any of us as old hippies. Several of us spent 3 years designing, planning and building the community and it has more than lived up to my expectations. We have now lived there close to 4 years. Best decision I ever made, next to switching from West High to Wisconsin High!
I remember Ann Elkow for her friendliness towards me when I was a new junior and knew only the Shorewood kids. And of course, I remember Barb Lemon. So much fun!! Rennebohm's- grilled danish and a Coke at 7:30am, All the school dances, what was the name of that Italian restaurant w/ greasy pizza we went to many times?
Prom - the only night of my life I didn't sleep a wink, except the night I went into labor.
The classmates I've seen most recently (last 5 years) are Phil Koch and Barb Stolen Irvine from Shorewood. I keep in touch with Judy Siebecker Cantu by email.
